But my situation of a gradual gathering of clients was very helpful in making my re-entry equally gradual. And the physical demands of a commute cannot be underrated. Care to learn a new language? 🙂 I have also only recently stopped being surprised on Sunday night that I have to go to work tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing the song of The Housewife soon!

It truly helped me stay grounded in the fact that I CHOOSE to leave and had the support to wait it out!

It has really been a journey. Those months off taught me some interesting lessons that I’m only now able to put together. One of the most shocking was just how much I loved being a “housewife” (like a whole post on The Good Student, this exploration of The Housewife deserves more thought and time). I do know that letting The Good Student settle down a bit let the pure joy, and present attention, of The Housewife just glow. And I was OK with it.

I’m having a hard time adjusting, really physically more than anything. The commute and work is currently just exhausting, which is a practice in and of itself. Sometimes at lunch is when zazen is best, on many levels… it is restful, stilling, centering.

Incredible — the richness of sabbatical, of dormancy, of no-rank. We are pilgrims come home from sabbatical, here to tell the others: YES! It can be done! LEAP!
